Athletico Madrid sign Uruguayan winger Rodriguez

Europa winners Atletico Madrid roped in Uruguayan international winger, Cristian Gabriel Rodriguez as their first signing for the 2012-2013 season

The Spanish club has reached an agreement with the Uruguayan to join on a four-year contract, sources report.

Rodriguez arrives on a free transfer from Portuguese side Porto and will sign his contract after playing 2014 World Cup qualification games for his country against Venezuela and Peru. The 26-year-old, who has an Italian passport, spent the past four seasons with Porto and has also played for Benfica and Paris Saint Germain. Atletico Madrid`s Sporting Director, Jose Luis Perez Caminero described him as "a very fast player, who is attacking in style and with a lot of personality". IANS
