Bagan to face Dempo heat

Kolkata: A resurgent Mohun Bagan will face the challenge of leaders Dempo in a round 23 I-League match at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Back-to-back wins over Air India (4-0) and title conteders Mahindra United (3-1), under new coach Biswajit Bhattacharji, have certainly brought smiles back on the faces of the green-and-maroon supporters.

But it will be a test of character for Mohun Bagan against Dempo who look all set to clinch their fourth title this season. The title is not a big ask for Armando Colaco-coached side who just need seven points from their remaining four matches.

They came from behind to register a crucial win over local rivals Sporting Clube in the last round and will be confident here especially after their win over East Bengal in their last outing (round 20) here.

Dempo have won five of their last six matches and one more win will just take them closer to the title.

Inconsistency has been the order of the season for Mohun Bagan. If they were on a winning trot, suddenly they failed to score against arch-rival East Bengal, who despite being down to 10 men, held the green-and-maroon brigade in a local league match.
