Brazil`s 2002 World Cup winning goalkeeper Marcos Roberto Silveira Reis announced his retirement, ending his 20-year career with the Sao Paulo-based Palmeiras.

Sao Paulo: Brazil`s 2002 World Cup winning goalkeeper Marcos Roberto Silveira Reis announced his retirement, ending his 20-year career with the Sao Paulo-based Palmeiras.
The 38-year-old, who kept goal in the South American team`s 2-0 win over Germany in the 2002 World Cup final, also won the Copa Libertadores in 1999 and the 2005 Confederations Cup.
Marcos also helped his team win four state championships and two national championships, Xinhua reported. "After 20 years` dedicated service to Palmeiras, the goalkeeper Marcos has decided to hang up his gloves," said a statement released by the Sao Paulo club. Palmeiras said a farewell game in Marcos` honour will be organised later. IANS
