Margao: Dempo are aiming to consolidate
their position with a home win over eighth place Mumbai
Football Club tomorrow in the 14th round of the I-League,
At Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, Margao.
Dempo in the absence of their two key foreigner players
did a remarkable job to stay unbeaten in the second phase of
the first leg to remain at the top of the table with 26 points
from 13 matches.
Although striker Ranty Martins is back from injury they
will be missing their key defenders Mahesh Gawli and Sameer
Naik due to injury. But coach Armando Colaco is unperturbed as
he has enough resources to fill their gap.
"The league is wide open and we need to remain more
focus throughout if we aspire for the title. Mumbai FC is
playing well, especially in the second phase of the first leg
and we need to remain more focus. The boys know what to except
from them who are all charged up to keep the winning momentum
going," stated Colaco.
Mumbai Football Club picked up the tempo in the later
part of the first leg, remaining unbeaten in the last ten
match which saw them move to the top half till they lost to
Viva Kerala to move to eighth position. The induction of two
foreigners has instilled more teeth in the attack as well as
in the defence.
"Dempo are the best team and we need to remain
cautious against them who will be having the home advantage.
Our boys are playing well at the moment and they have the
potential to win against big team. Hopefully they display
their talent and win tomorrow which will help us to improve
our standing," stated Jamil.
