New Delhi: Relatively unknown but hugely experienced Gokhan Inler on Wednesday became the latest addition in Claudio Ranieri's Leicester City as the English Premier League side continued to strengthen it's squad.
Inler, 31, is the the club's sixth summer signing and the Italian manager seemed to have gone for the experience the Napoli midfielder carries. The Switzerland international signed a three-year deal at the King Power Stadium.
“I’m very happy and proud to play here because we’ve been in discussions for a long time. I’ve spoken with the manager and I’m very happy to be here because it’s a nice team. I’ve watched them lots of times and I like them," Inler was quoted by the club website.
After gaining their EPL promotion last season, Leicester City surprised everyone by finishing 14th in 2014-15, and have roped in the services of renowned Ranieri to further augment their top-flight presence.
Leicester have started the current season on a bright note after beating Sunderland 4-2 and West Ham United 2-1. With six points from two matches and with a favourable goal difference, they sit second in the league table, behind leaders Manchester City.
Having represented Switzerland 83 times, the Turkish-born Swiss previously played for Udinese for for years, before joining the Serie A rivals Napoli in 2011. He won two Coppa Italia titles with Napoli in 2012 and 2014.
