John Terry `out for weeks not months`

Chelsea manager Di Matteo will breathe a sigh of relief as defender John Terry will only be out for weeks rather than months following a scan on his right knee.

London: Chelsea manager Di Matteo will breathe a sigh of relief as defender John Terry will only be out for weeks rather than months following a scan on his right knee.
Terry picked up the injury and had to leave the pitch early during Chelsea`s 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool in the English Premier League at the weekend when Terry scored the only goal for Chelsea.
Earlier reports said Terry might be sidelined for months but a Monday statement from the London-based club said: "MRI scans on Terry`s right knee thankfully show no significant damage to the cruciate ligaments. "Chelsea Football Club`s medical team will conduct further tests over the next two or three days once the swelling has subsided to determine how long John will be out, but it will be a matter of weeks not months," said the statement. Terry`s injury, however, turned out to be a further blow for Chelsea`s short-handed defending line as David Luiz was sidelined by tonsilitis and Ashley Cole nursed a hamstring problem. IANS
