Euro Cup 2012 Final: Spain vs Italy-As it happenedZeenews Sports Bureau

Kyiv: It was La Furia Roja’s Royal Decree three times over as they stamped their class and authority all over the Olympic stadium sinking the ‘Azzurri’4-0 en route to the most successful reign of an international team ever in football history. It was the Royal march from the ‘The Spaniards’, De España Marcha Real as they tore apart the Italian wall of defence to leave the ‘Superman’ Buffon a mere mortal.

Spain 4 : 0 Italy

90+3 min SPAIN HAVE CREATED HISTORY!!!! THEY ARE THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A ROW—A FEAT NEVER ACHIEVED BEFORE. THEY DOMINATED THE PROCEEDINGS HERE AT KYIV TONIGHT, DICTATING THE PACE AND FATE OF THE GAME AND MARCHING TO A 4-0 VICTORY OVER HAPLESS ITALIANS.

88 min: Before you could even blink your eyes, Juan Mata registered another goal for Spain. The Italians have been taken to cleaners by the all conquering defending champions. 4-0. Carnage here at Kiev. An unselfish play from Torres as he sets Mata for an easy finish as his Chelsea teammate taps the ball in an empty net.

79 min: Pedro has been saved the blushes by the linesman who flags him for an offside offence after he sidefoots an effort wide,

66 min: The Spanish fans in the stadium are already singing and celebrating. The Italians are looking down and out with 10 players—a disadvantage they cannot simply afford against the charging Spain.

64 min: Pirlo kicks the ball towards Bonucci, but the Italian defender goes down with Sergio Busquets, the referee says it's a foul from the attacking player.

61 min: Thiago Motta just came in but he is on a stretcher now, clutching his right hamstring. This is not good for Italy as he was their final substitution. Italy are now one man down against the best team in the world.

59 min: First substitution of the night for Spain. Pedro in David Silva out

58 min: Casillas punches the curling shot away and thus blocking it from reaching the target.

57 min: Di Natale has been in the thick of action. He wins a free kick for Italy and Pirlo is ready for the strike.

Substitution Thiago Motta(in) Riccardo Montolivo(out) . This is Italy’s third change of the night.

51 min: Here is a perfect example of why Spain are so confident about their defence. Yes you guessed it right- the reason is Iker Casillas. He blocked Di Natale’s shot before catching his subsequent cross from the rebound.

50 min: Ramos heads one towards the goal that hits the arm of Bonucci but referee Proenca fails to award a penalty. Spain deserved it!!!

47 min: DI Natale’s first touch almost finds the back of the net! Abate curls one into the Spain penalty area that Di Natale heads just over the crossbar. What a start to the second half!

46 min: We are back and the second –half is on with defending champions Spain dominating and leading 2-0. Just another 45 minutes separating Spain from history. Will this be another Spanish inquisition or will the Azzurri fight back?

Substitution Antonio Di Natale in Antonio Cassano out

29 min Good through pass by De Rossi from centre to Cassano on far left, Cassano controls, swirls has a shot on goal, weak one Casillas with an easy save.

27 min Good cross in by Pirlo as Casillas punches the ball away, the ball is loose but Baletolli doesn’t reach the ball as Casillas picks the ball up.

26 min Spain attacking veraciously but it is Balzaretti with the rescue.

24 min First YELLOW of the game, and it is Pique for a challenge on Cassano (Italy).

21 min SUBSTITUTION: Balzaretti (in) - Chiellini (out) (Italy). . Giorgio Chiellini hobbles off the pitch with what looks like a knee injury - on comes left-back Federico Balzaretti, who is a ready-made replacement, but this is still a big blow for the Azzurri.

20 min MISTAKE in defense, give away by Italian defense, but Italy survive. Cheillni with the intercept. It was Cheillni who gifted the ball to Spain in a dangerous area, and he looks in trouble out there. Kyiv: 14 min SILVA SCORES. GOAL!! SPAIN TAKE THE LEAD THROUGH SILVA!! Iniesta scrambles a pass through to Fabregas who crosses the ball from an acute angle to David Silva, who gets a header to the right top corner.

10 min De Rossi does well to throw his body in front of a Xavi shot from the edge of the penalty area, but he and the rest of the Italy defence can do nothing about the Barca man's second effort. Fabregas tees the ball up for Xavi, and he fires a swerving shot just over Buffon's crossbar.

8 min Alba on the outside again, as Iniesta tries a long range, Italian defence blocks the effort.

7 min Good ball in by Alba ans Silva sneaks behind, Cheillni gives away a corner, Xavi takes the corner and Ramos heads it too powerfully. Goal kick for Italy.

1 min So we are underway, and that is the first free-kick of the night. Sergio Ramos (Spain) concedes a free-kick for a foul on Balotelli (Italy).

Handshakes all around now.

The Spainsh national anthem now, Marcha Real. A composed Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Fabregas, Pique, stone faced Xavi, Ramos and Iker Casillas.

it is the national anthem of Italy first up, Il Canto degli Italiani and Gigi Buffon as passionate ever.

With Fernando Torres seemingly out of favour, and with Fernando Llorente yet to make an appearance at the tournament, Cesc Fabregas could be restored to a `false nine` role up front alongside Andres Iniesta and David Silva.

Italy defender Ignazio Abate, who missed the semi-final win over Germany with a muscle injury, is likely to return to fitness in time for the final, while fellow full-back Christian Maggio is also available after serving a one-match ban.

Coach Cesare Prandelli may persist with the same formation that served him well against the Germans rather than revert to the unorthodox 3-5-2 line-up used in the opening match against Spain.
