GFA penalise Koko for breach of contract

Vasco Sports Club`s Nigerian striker Koko Sakibo has been fined Rs 5,000 by the Goa Football Association (GFA) for breach of contract.

Panaji: Vasco Sports Club`s Nigerian striker Koko Sakibo has been fined Rs 5,000 by the Goa Football Association (GFA) for breach of contract, a top GFA official said.
"Koko, who had a three year contract with the Vasco Club, violated the contract by signing for Churchill Bros," Messias said. "Koko who is presently in Nigeria will have to come back to Goa. He will have to rescind his contract with Vasco Club, if at all he intends to play for Churchill Bros," he said. "It is only after the termination of the present contract with Vasco that Koko will be able to sign for Churchill Brothers," Messias said. Vasco chief executive officer Alok Shah said they are ready to release Koko. "We want to release him as we cannot afford to pay the same salary which Churchill is offering him to afford his services for the second division of the I-League," Shah said. "Once we get confirmation from the AIFF secretary, Alberto Colaco that we don`t have a chance to play in the I-League after finishing third in the second division in place of Mahindra United than we will release Koko," Shah said.
