The second season of the Indian Super League got underway on Saturday with a dazzling opening ceremony in Chennai where several Bollywood superstars lightened up the event. Fans around the world witnessed a star-studded ceremony ahead of the opening game between Chennaiyin FC and Atletico de Kolkata.

New Delhi: The second season of the Indian Super League got underway on Saturday with a dazzling opening ceremony in Chennai where several Bollywood superstars lightened up the event. Fans around the world witnessed a star-studded ceremony ahead of the opening game between Chennaiyin FC and Atletico de Kolkata.
The initial part of the programme saw a performance by Bansi Kaul's troop. Meanwhile, Bollywood queen Aishwariya Rai and young sensation Alia Bhatt enthralled the crowd with their superb dancing show performing on some of their movie songs. Music maestro AR Rahman was also a major highlight of the evening after performing the national anthem at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar were amongst the high profile celebrities present along with Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita.
The nation's new heartthrob Arjun Kapoor hosted the event.
