Buenos Aires: Midfielder Marcos Delgado scored in second-half injury time to earn Peru's Juan Aurich a 1-1 draw against Argentina's River Plate in their Copa Libertadores football tournament's group match.

The midfielder utilised forward German Pacheco's flicked header before lofting a shot over goalkeeper Julio Chiarini from an acute angle on Thursday, reports Xinhua.

Defender Gabriel Mercado had given the Argentine side the lead by driving in from close range.

The result at the Monumental stadium leaves Juan Aurich second in Group Six with five points, two points ahead of third-paced River Plate.

In other matches on Thursday, Ecuador's Barcelona de Guayaquil defeated Colombia's Atletico Nacional 3-2, Uruguay's Montevideo Wanderers drew 1-1 with Chile's Palestino and Brazil's Cruzeiro overcame Venezuela's Mineros de Guayana 2-0.
