New Delhi: England left-back Leighton Baines withdrew from the squad for the games against Slovenia and Scotland due to injury.

The news was confirmed by the Football Association (FA) through a statement on their website as well as by the England national team's official handle on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The Everton left-back got injured during a training session on Friday and is now expected to head back to his club for further treatment.

Baines was part of Roy Hodgson's squad that will take on Slovenia on Saturday at Wembley as part of England's Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

The “Three Lions” will then take on arch rivals Scotland in a friendly at Celtic Park on Tuesday.

Hodgson has not named a replacement for Baines so far.
