Brasilia: Neymar has demonstrated through his performances at the Confederations Cup that he is Barcelona quality, according to Albert Benaiges.
The former academy director at the Catalan giants insists the €57 million signing from Santos has been comparable to Andres Iniesta at the tournament and that the Brazilian has a bright future at Camp Nou.
“It will be hard to choose among Iniesta and Neymar as best player of the Confederations Cup,” he told La Xarxa.
“Neymar is proving to be a Barca player."
The Samba star has lit up the competition with a stunning goal against Japan before following up against Mexico and Italy to seal a semi-final spot for Brazil and put himself in contention for the Golden Boot.
“He is of high quality, scores goals, speaks very well and falls within the values and profile of the club," Benaiges continued.
"Maybe he has to find a new hairdresser but I think he will be a good player for the club.”
Benagies also praised Iniesta: “He does what others are unable to do. He always surprises you, it is the football excellence within.”
Spain`s Jordi Alba scored a delightful double against Nigeria to book la Roja`s place in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup where they will face Italy.
And Benaiges says it is no surprise what the former Valencia full-back has managed to achieve already in his career.
He added: “What makes Jordi Alba so great is what he has already done. Jordi always has done this all his life. It is not surprising at all to see him score goals or provide assists.
“Both Andres Iniesta and Jordi Alba are amazing, phenomenal, stunning players.”
