Gangtok: United Sikkim Football Club [USFC]
is now on the second place in the pool with a victory over
Simla Youngs, Delhi, in the second division of I-League.
A brace by Buddhiram Tudu in the 63rd and 71st minutes
helped USFC win its fourth match to climb to the second
position in the pool.
Bhaichung Bhutia and Nim Tshering Lepcha also
contributed to winning this match played at SAI Stadium,
Guwahati yesterday.
After two wins, one draw and one loss so far in the
tournament, Bhaichung Bhutia?s USFC is standing on the second
place with 7 points in the pool which is led by Southern
Samity [Kolkata] with 10 points.
Speaking to reporters over phone from Guwahati, USFC senior
manager, Arjun Rai, mentioned that the team played a good game
to win this crucial game.
He said that Bhaichung played a good game in defence to
break the attacks of the opponent team with a strong cheering
from the Sikkim schools.
This match was crucial for the team and the players have
really proved them in the match and now it is on the second
position with 7 points and there is much hope to win our last
two matches to enter into the second round in Shillong, Rai
said.
The match witnessed huge crowd support for USFC by
players of Martam Secondary School and Namchi Senior Secondary
School football teams, who are in Guwahati for their matches
in another tournament.
USFC is now scheduled to play Guwahati Town Club on
April 12 followed by the last match in the pool against Golden
Threads on April 14.
