New Delhi: Despite finishing third with the Netherlands, in the on going FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil, goalkeeper Tim Krul said that he will cherish fantastic memories of the coveted tournament. The Newcastle United stopper said its a competition he will remember for ever. Krul expressed his views through his personal account on micro-blogging site Twitter. Netherlands beat Brazil 3-0 to end third in the World Cup on Saturday. The Dutch under Louis van Gaal lost to Argentina in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-final. Krul, who is Netherlands` second choice keeper, played a match-winning role against Costa Rica in the quarter-finals. He was brought in by Van Gaal as a substitute for the spot-kick shoot-out after the match had ended 0-0 at extra-time. Krul saved two penalties and won the match for his nation. He later spoke about his dream of being a hero for his nation where the players would come running to him for celebrations. That dream was justified against Costa Rica. The Netherlands got off to a dream start after battering Spain 5-1. They had an outstanding campaign and looked like qualifying for the final but fell short against Argentina. Krul will hope to make this experience count and would look to get the current Premier League campaign started with Newcastle United on a high. The EPL season starts on 16th August.
