New Delhi: Cesare Prandelli has announced his 23-man Italy squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He has left out Fiorentina striker Guiseppe Rossi, who has been recovering from a knee injury. Despite being included in Prandelli`s preliminary squad, Rossi failed to make the final cut. In the just concluded Serie A season, Rossi tallied an impressive 14 goals in 17 matches for Fiorentina. The striker suffered an injury in January 2014 due to which he was ruled out of action for four months. Since making his comeback, the Fiorentina striker has not played the full 90 minutes in any of the matches. He was taken off after 71 minutes during Italy`s friendly against Republic of Ireland. A frustated Rossi, took to microblogging site Twitter to vent out his anger regarding his exclusion from the Italy squad but also whished his team well. ("Everyone says out of shape but you can ask anyone regarding the results of the tests done during the week and in the game. One would be surprised. Fear of contact? It makes me laugh....") ("I am faster in thinking than a defender. Perhaps next time, like an amateur, I wait for the defender in order to be kicked. I just wanted to make that small clarification.) ("Now the most important thing is to support Italy. Forza Azzurri!!") Rossi finished the 2013-14 Serie A season as Fiorentina`s top scorer with 16 goals in all competitions despite missing four months through injury. Citing technical reason, the striker was left out of the 2010 World Cup squad by Marcello Lippi. He then also missed the 2012 Euro with an injury to his right knee. Hence this is the third successive time that Rossi has been left out of a major tournament for Italy.
