Estadio Joaquim Americo is one of the most historic venues in Brazil’s football history. It is known by the name of Arena da Baixada. It is often considered as the stadium with one of the best infrastructure and amenities in the country. In June 1999, the renovation works in the stadium had been completed, which is when it was renamed.
It is the home ground of Atletico Paranaense. The stadium is one of the oldest venues in Brazil and was constructed in 1914. Due to its rich history and its world class facilities, there was no doubt that the authorities selected this venue to host matches at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Despite existing facilities, the stadium has gone changes to make it better equipped to handle the biggest football event in the world. During the makeover of the stadium, new rows of seats were added parallel to the pitch. Hence the seating capacity of the stadium is now up to 40,000. It will host 4 World Cup matches.
