Ankur, Tutul to play in San Diego at World Junior Golf

Ankur Chadha and Tutul Ali on Wednesday emerged winners in their respective categories to earn the grand opportunity to compete with over 1100 juniors from 54 countries at the Callaway World Junior Golf Championship in San Diego from July 12th to 15th.

Ace junior golfer Ankur raised his head high with a score of 36 in category A, while Tutul led in Category B with a score of 27 at the Callaway Golf Junior Tour which culminated with the grand finale at the Jaypee Greens today. Little golf star Shubham Jaglan emerged as winner and took over the national final with a score of 16 in Category E. Young talent Manu Gandas, meanwhile, won the Callaway RAZR Fit Driver after a hole in one on the 12th hole. "It was a pleasure winning the National Final of Callaway Golf Junior Tour. This victory has motivated me to practice hard for a month now for the international tournament," Ankur said after the win. Tutul said: "I am really happy to have got this opportunity from Callaway to represent India in San Diego. I had never thought of winning this tournament." Vivek Mehta, Country Head Callaway Golf India, also expressed his pleasure at the performance of the young golfers and said: "It is our constant endeavour with each passing year to bring alive such flair in this sport and offer them a platform to explore their golfing skills." "These two winners will get the opportunity to visit San Diego to showcase their talent at an international level. I wish them good luck for the Callaway World Juniors and hope that they have a wonderful experience participating and giving their best shot," he added. The Callaway Junior World Golf Championship has grown from 475 juniors participating from seven countries initially to 1100 participants every year representing from 54 countries on Sunday. PTI
