Bhullar eyes Brunei Open next week

Kuala Lumpur: Rising golf star Gaganjeet
Bhullar will look to mend last year`s heartbreak of losing in
a three-way play-off when he spearheads the Indian challenge
at the Asian Tour`s Brunei Open next week.

The 22-year-old lost in a three-way play-off to eventual
winner Australia`s Darren Beck.

The talented golfer got off to a fine start this season
when he won his second title at the Asian Tour International
in Thailand.

He missed only one cut this season and will be eyeing
more glory at the Brunei Open, which kickstarts the second
half of the Asian Tour season.

"Winning your first event in the season gives you a lot
of boost and confidence. Now I don`t have the burden on my
mind to retain my card on the Asian Tour. But I`ll continue to
work hard and perform well to keep my confidence high," said

Multiple Asian Tour winners Thaworn Wiratchant of
Thailand and Chinese Taipei`s Lin Wen-tang are among the other
stars headlining a stellar cast.

The duo along with Bhullar have won a combined total of
18 Asian Tour titles and will be determined to wrestle the
title away from Beck at the Empire Hotel and Country Club from
July 29 to August 1.

A bevy of Asian Tour stars such as Thailand`s Prayad
Marksaeng, Malaysian Danny Chia, Filipino Angelo Que and David
Gleeson of Australia will also make their way to the USD
300,000 full field Asian Tour tournament.
