Bowditch, Walker, Curran stay atop soggy PGA event

Australian Steven Bowditch and Americans Jon Curran and Jimmy Walker remained level for the lead after Saturday`s completion of the second round at the rain-soaked US PGA Byron Nelson tournament.

All three were safely in the clubhouse when darkness fell Friday with 33 players still on the course after heavy rain had delayed the start of round two by three hours.

Saturday`s start was pushed back three hours again by heavy rains, which swamped a bunker at the fifth hole that a fish was able to swim in it.

More than five inches of rain stuck the area during the week, saturating the course so much that the par-4 14th hole was shortened to a par-3 hole after rain made the fairway of the hole unplayable.

Americans Tony Finau and Joe Affrunti, who were the closest players to the lead on the course when play was halted, each moved within a stroke of the lead on Saturday.

Finau finished off the last two holes of a five-under 64 while Affrunti fired the last four holes of a 63 to finish on 131 alongside countryman Ryan Palmer and Australia`s Cameron Percy.

On 132 were Americans Nick Watney, Jerry Kelly, Jonathan Randolph and Hunter Mahan.

Reigning Masters champion and world number two Jordan Spieth fired a 64 to stand in a pack on 133.
