Driscoll ties course record to lead in Puerto Rico
James Driscoll, hunting his first career victory on the USPGA Tour, equaled his own course record with a nine-under 63 to surge into a one-shot lead at the Puerto Rico Open on Friday.

Rio Grande: James Driscoll, hunting his first career victory on the USPGA Tour, equaled his own course record with a nine-under 63 to surge into a one-shot lead at the Puerto Rico Open on Friday.
Driscoll, who finished 36 holes at 12-under-par 132, already owned a share of the record with Derek Lamely, Chris Tidland and Scott Brown with his 63 on the Trump International Golf Club course in 2011.
"I had the putter going pretty hot today," Driscoll said. "The wind was pumping pretty good. It was blowing about 20 miles an hour, but there were a few times I had some crosswinds and just judged it perfectly and hit it in there to about a foot or so."
Chesson Hadley carded a seven-under 65 during his second round to move into second place at 11-under 133, while Eric Axley (66) is alone in third at -10.
Ben Martin (67), Wes Roach (66), Jonathan Byrd (66) and Danny Lee (68) shared fourth.
Driscoll drained back-to-back birdies at the 14th and 15th to reach 11-under.
Driscoll had earlier followed an opening par with a birdie at the second. He eagled the fifth to reach six-under before converting another birdie at the eighth to make the turn at seven-under.
He then rolled in birdies at the 10th and 12th and closed with a birdie at the 18th.
Hadley birdied the 18th to make the turn at six-under and made it two in a row at the first before recording an eagle at the second.
He added birdies at the fifth and seventh to keep the heat on Driscoll.
