Johannesburg: Five bogeys on the back-nine, including three successive, saw Indian golfer SSP Chowrasia miss his second successive cut as he fell by the wayside in the Jo`burg Open here.
The Indian, who was hoping for a good start to 2011, ended with rounds of 67 and 74 in the event and missed the cut by two shots. Chowrasia`s only two birdies came on the second and 13th and he bogeyed the ninth, 10th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes. Last week he missed the cut in Africa Open. South African Charl Schwartzel`s brilliant 10-under 61 gave him a share of a three-way lead after two days of the event. On a day when almost three hours were lost due to a thunderstorm, defending champion Schwartzel tore up the West Course with 10 birdies, including a tee shot to eight feet at the par-three 16th. That left him 13-under at the halfway stage, along with fellow South African Garth Mulroy and England`s Jamie Elson, although not all of the field were able to complete their second rounds after the lengthy delay. Mulroy and Elson both carded rounds of 64 on the tougher East Course layout. PTI
