Inverness (Scotland): Jeev Milkha Singh carded a second consecutive 70 even as two of his compatriots are struggling to make the cut in the rain-hit Barclays Scottish Open at the Castle Stuart Golf Links.
The second round was left incomplete on Friday and on Saturday, the course is closed to the public due to the heavy overnight rain in the Inverness area. The course was flooded. The other two Indians Shiv Kapur and SSP Chowrasia were yet to finish their second rounds and will need to fight hard to make the cut. Chowrasia was even par through 31 holes and had five more to play. Kapur was one over through five holes in second round with one double bogey, one bogey and two birdies and he had 72 in first round. The cut looks likely at four-under. Late on Friday Graeme McDowell was joined by home pair Scott Jamieson and Pete Whiteford at the top of the leaderboard after firing a second round 64 to set up the possibility of a second Barclays Scottish Open title in four years. Last year`s US Open Champion, McDowell, stands 11-under par at halfway and when play was suspended for the day after two thunderstorm delays he was sharing the lead with Scots Whiteford and Jamieson. Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, World Numbers One and Two,were among those affected by the hold-up. Donald and Westwood managed 11 and nine holes respectively and both will resume on seven under.Last year`s US Open Champion, McDowell, stands 11-under par at halfway and when play was suspended for the day after two thunderstorm delays he was sharing the lead with Scots Whiteford and Jamieson.
