Marana: Germany`s Martin Kaymer booked his berth in the World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship final Saturday with a 1-up win over Bubba Watson, and insured he will rise to No.1 in golf`s world rankings.
For the second straight year it will be an all-European final in the elite event as Kaymer, the overall second seed, will take on ninth-seeded Englishman Luke Donald in Sunday`s 18-hole championship match at Dove Mountain. Kaymer fended off long-hitting American Watson in a closely contested semi-final while Donald moved on in style with a dominating 6 and 5 victory over American Matt Kuchar. Kaymer, 26, is assured of rising to number one in the rankings when the new list is released next week, whether or not he lifts the trophy on Sunday. He will take over from Englishman Lee Westwood, who has been No. 1 since he supplanted Tiger Woods on October 31. Kaymer will become the 14th player and the second German, after Bernhard Langer, to hold the top ranking. Bureau Report
