Wellington: Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazabal had reportedly jumped into a lake to escape an attack of hornets after an eventful second round in the European Tour`s Malaysian Open on Friday.
Larrazabal, who was stung around 20 times, however, returned to the course after a couple of injections and a change of shirt and birdied the par-five hole - his 14th.
According to stuff.co.nz, Larrazabal encountered the `scariest` moment of his life after being attacked by hornets on the fifth hole, following which he admitted that he started running like a `crazy guy` on his caddie`s and the other players` advice and then took his shoes off, threw his scorecard aside and jumped into the lake.
Stating that he felt a lot better after the injections, Larrazabal fiurther said that he could not have finished the round without the help of the referees as he was in no state to play golf, adding that although he believes he would be playing in the weekend, he is scared to return to the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club .
