Dilip Vengsarkar slams `worst ever` Australian team

New Delhi: Former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar has called the touring Australian team the "worst ever" in a scathing attack on the listless performances put in by the men from down under.

Michael Clarke`s men surrendered meekly in each of the first two Tests as hosts India have raced to a comfortable, and unassailable, 2-0 lead in the four-match series. While there has been a feel-good factor about the Indian team following the back-to-back wins, Vengsarkar believes this has more to do with the visitors` inadequacies.

"Going by the way the Aussies folded on the fourth morning at Hyderabad (all out for 131 in their second innings in the second Test on Tuesday), one is tempted to ask whether this is the worst ever Australian team that has toured India so far," he wrote in the Times of India.

He did, however, believe that the conditions in Mohali may be more conducive for their style of play and they could pose a bigger threat in the next Test match.

"However at Mohali the conditions might just help the Aussies. Will they show enough spunk to put it across the Indians? A tall order, but in cricket nothing could be ruled out."
