London: Mary Kom, who lost her semi-final bout against Nicol Adams of Great Britain, said that she is sorry for not able to win gold or silver.
But she said that she tried her hardest and happy that she won a bronze medal.
“I am sorry, couldn’t win gold or silver. I know my fans prayed and wished for me. I tried my hardest. Happy got a bronze,” she told reporters after the match.
"It has been a tough journey. I carried on with the support of family and friends. I want to continue playing the game. Despite the loss today, I am satisfied with the way I performed," said also Mary Kom shortly after losing 6-11 to the second seed in the 51kg class.
Mary Kom went down to Nicol Adams 6 - 11 in the semi-final bout to settle for bronze in the women`s fly category at the London Olympics 2012.
The mother of two from Manipur was completely out-boxed by the second-seeded Briton in all the four rounds (1-3, 1-2, 2-3, 2-3) to deny the Indian to enter the final of the event.
