Poonia had automatically qualified with her brilliant throw of 63.54m. It is yet to be seen whether she can make the country proud with a medal.
Irfan finishes 10th in Men’s 20km Race Walk
India's Irfan Kolothum Thodi finished at a commendable 10th position men’s 20km Race Walk. China dominated the race with Ding Chen winning the gold and Zhen Wang bronze. Guatemala's Erick Barrondo bagged silver.

Sania-Paes lose to Azarenka-Mirnyi
The Indian duo of Sania Mirza and Leander Paes lost their quarter-final match against top-seeded Belarussian pair of Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka in straight sets 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).

First set: Mirnyi-Azarenka 7:5 Sania-Paes
The play will resume in a while and as per the reports, the match will continue on court no. 12 and surprisingly there are no cameras installed there which is why the viewers can watch the score updates online.
Li Xuerui upsets World No. 1 to bag gold in badminton women’s singles
Li Xuerei once again got the better of top-seeded Wang Yihan as she defeated her Chinese compatriot 21-15, 21-23, 21-17 to win an Olympic gold.
World champion Wang Yihan had demolished Saina Nehwal to ensure the Olympic badminton singles final was an all-Chinese contest.
Serena wins gold in tennis
Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 in the women's singles final.
Devendro Singh reaches quarters Devendro Singh beat Serdamba Purevdorj of Mongolia in the men's Light Fly match to reach the quarterfinals. He won 16 - 11 after three rounds.
Saina wins Bronze medal
India's Saina Nehwal won the bronze medal in badminton singles at the London Olympics 2012 after she was declared winner in the play-off match as her Chinese opponent Wang Xin retired hurt.

India's Sudha Singh failed to make it to the finals of 3000m steeplechase after finishing 13th in heat.
Shagun is placed at the bottom of the table after the second round of qualification. She has a total of 40. The top six qualify for the final spot.

World champion Kirani James of Grenada has won the second heat of the men's 400m in 45.23.
Amazing Pistorius Oscar Pistorius has reached the semi-finals of the 400m, finishing second in his heat behind 18-year-old Lugueline Santos of the Dominican Republic.

India lodges counter-appeal
India has lodged a counter-appeal over the AIBA’s decision that resulted in boxer Vikas Krishan’s exit from the London Olympics. Vikas was declared winner initially after the bout ended but after the USA’s team lodged a strong protest against it, the decision was reversed in favour of Errol Spence.
Round 1: Shagun Cowdhary has scored 23/25 after first round. She is currently on 12th position. Her average score is 0.920.
Indian rowing pair of Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh finished 19th overall after defeating Egypt pair of Mohamed Nofel Omar Emira in the Men's Lightweight Double Sculls. They finished with a timing of 7m 08s which was four seconds ahead of their opponents.
RULE: There are three rounds and as per the rules, in the qualification event each shooter will get 10 right, 10 left and 5 straight shots that makes a total of 75 shots per competitor.
Update: The event has started. Indian shooter Shagun Chowdhary will be in action in Women's Trap qualficiation at Royal Artillery Barracks from 2:00 pm (IST) onwards.

Indian Chef de Mission P K Muralidharan, stunned by Vikas Krishan`s ouster, today said the country`s contingent will not take AIBA`s decision lying down even though it has "limited options" in the matter.
