London: Update: Georgia's Vladimer Khinchegashvili has won his semifinal bout against Shinichi Yumoto of Japan which means that India's Amit Kumar will now contest for bronze medal in repechage round.
Amit out of gold/silver contention India's Amit Kumar lost his quarterfinal bout against Georgia's Vladimer Khinchegashvili. The 19-year-old grappler is now out of contention for a gold/silver but still has an outside chance of contesting in the repechage round for bronze provided his opponent (Vladimer) makes it to the final of the 55kg event. As it happened Period 2: Amit loses second period as well. He is out of contention for a gold/silver. He lost the 2nd period 3-1. Period 1:Vladimer Khinchegashvili has won the first period 4-0. He is leading the bout 1-0. Amit failed to take the advantage of being in the clinched position. The event has started. Indian wrestler Amit Kumar (55kg) will square-off against Vladimer Khinchegashvili of Georgia in the quarterfinals.
