London: It has been a disappointing start for the Indians in the wrestling events as Geeta Phogat has lost her bout.

However, the 23-year-Indian is still in contention for a bronze medal provided her opponent, Tonya, makes it the final of the 55kg event after which she will compete in the repechage round for a bronze.
Period 3: Tonya has won this period 3-1 which means Geeta has lost the match is out of contention for gold/silver.
Period 2: Geeta wins the second period. The bout is now tied 1-1.
Period 1: Tonya has won the first period. The Canadian is currently leading 1-0.
This is the second time that Tonya is facing an Indian opponent. Alka Tomar had earlier defeated her in Commonwealth Games.
