Olympics 2012: India sack chief TT coach

India`s chief table tennis coach Leszek Kucharski will no longer be part of the team.

London: India`s chief table tennis coach Leszek Kucharski will no longer be part of the team.
The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has decided against renewing his six-month contract which was valid till the Olympics. "Most Indian players were not satisfied with his way of coaching. They had issues interacting with him. So keeping the players interest in mind we will not be giving him a contract extension. Having said that, he is a very knowledgeable coach and was a great player," TTFI secretary general Dhanraj Choudhary told IANS. Choudhary added they would be approaching the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) for a new coach. Kucharski, a former World No.11 from Poland, was appointed as the Indian coach in November last year, replacing Italian Massimo Constantini. During his tenure, the Polish coach travelled with the team to the Olympic qualifiers and Asian Championships before guiding youngsters Soumyajit Ghosh and Ankita Das in London. Soumyajit did well to reach the second round while Ankita made a first round exit at the Games. IANS
