Full Name: Sahana Kumari Born: 6 March 1981 Sports: High Jump Sahana Kumari: Like most of the other athletes, this 31-year-old high jumper has also gone through several ups and downs in her career. Sahana qualified for the Olympics with a 1.92-metre jump in Hyderabad, overcoming an eight-year-old national record. She has attributed her success to mother Yashoda, and Purushotham Poojary, the physical education director at her alma mater Gokarnanatheshwara College, Gandhi Nagar. It was Mr. Poojary who used to arrange for funds for her travelling purpose to various competitions. We hope that her jump is high enough to bring a medal for the country at the London Games.
