Kazakh Olympians want ‘horsemeat sausages’ to improve their performances

The Kazakh team mostly includes boxers, wrestlers and weightlifters. However, it is yet unclear whether the sausages will be allowed into the UK, because of the country’s strict import controls on meat.

London, July 14 (ANI): The Kazakh Olympic team is hoping to boost its chances of sporting success at the London 2012 Olympics with specially shipping horsemeat sausages to the UK.
As horsemeat is learnt to be an indispensable part of the traditional Kazakh diet, sports officials in the Central Asian country believe that the traditional dish may help the athletes`` performances.
“We`ll bring horse meat and caviar for each team,” the BBC quoted sports official Elsiyar Kanagatov as saying, and further added that the athletes could achieve "outstanding results" if fed properly. The Kazakh team mostly includes boxers, wrestlers and weightlifters, all sports, which are associated with a protein-rich diet. However, it is yet unclear whether the sausages will be allowed into the UK, because of the country’s strict import controls on meat. The Kazakhstan team, which is fielding 114 athletes at the London games beginning in two weeks, has won 39 medals including nine gold since its debut at the Olympics in 1996. ANI
