London: Former world No.1 Novak Djokovic from Serbia has said he is looking forward to playing on grass at the All England Club where he won the Wimbledon men`s singles title in 2011.
"I`m happy that we have the Olympic Games on the grass courts," he said. "I really like these courts. I think all of us who are taking part in the Olympics are very excited about it," Djokovic was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
"Everybody wants to be a part of the Olympic Games. You`re representing your country. Me personally, I`m really looking forward to the opening ceremony to see how it`s going to look.
"I had the honour to represent my country four years ago," said Djokovic, who defeated American James Blake to win a bronze medal. "It was one of the best achievements and best feelings I had as a professional athlete."
The Serbian ace was knocked out of the 2012 Wimbledon championships by Roger Federer, who went on to secure a seventh Wimbledon as much as Pete Sampras.
"Most of the tournaments that we play, we play as individual tennis players. There are very few competitions such as the Olympics where we can feel the team spirit, as in the Davis Cup, but this is even more so.
"It makes you really proud of wearing your national colours, having athletes from your country coming to support you, going to the Olympic Village, and the opening ceremony and everything. It`s very emotional because it`s not just you who matters there, it`s the whole nation," said Djokovic.
"The Olympic Games are the pinnacle of all sports, in my opinion."
