UK Olympic doping ban declared illegal

London: A person familiar with the ruling says Britain`s lifetime Olympic ban for doping offenders has been declared unlawful by sport`s top court.

The person says the Court of Arbitration for Sport has backed the World Anti-Doping Agency`s assertion that its code is violated by the British Olympic Association`s bylaw. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the CAS verdict is not being publicly released until Monday. Sprinter Dwain Chambers and cyclist David Millar are now eligible to compete at the London Olympics. The website of a leading newspaper first reported on Sunday that the BOA had lost its case, which was heard by CAS in March. The BOA confirmed it has received the decision, but would not reveal its contents. (AP) PTI
