Concerned over image, Kalmadi wants his name to be cleared

Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, who has been facing allegations of financial mismanagement in the run-up to the Delhi event, said he was "concerned" about his image as a sport administrator.

"I am concerned. I want my name to be cleared and I am ready to face any inquiry," Kalmadi said when asked whether the recent controversies surrounding the conduct of the mega sport event had tainted his image as a sport administrator and Congress MP from the city.Kalmadi, however, assured that he will deliver a great Games and "will make Pune proud". Kalmadi also faced queries about heavy police presence at `Meet the Press` organised by Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh with cops in civil dresses sharing the seats in the hall with the journalists and a large number of policemen standing outside the entry points."I do not need any police protection and I have not asked for it," said Kalmadi, who was accompanied by Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Ramesh Bagve.
