New Delhi: With just 12 days left for the
Commonwealth Games and several projects not yet complete, a
worried Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday directed concerned
agencies to set up special teams to accomplish all the
unfinished work.
At a high-level meeting attended by all her Cabinet
colleagues and top officials of PWD, NDMC, MCD, Delhi Metro,
Delhi Jal Board and discoms, Dikshit took stock of the city`s
overall preparation for the event and asked all concerned
agencies to make a final push to complete the remaining work.
The Chief Minister instructed all concerned agencies to
constitute special teams to monitor the situation and take
care of last minute deficiencies, said a senior official who
attended the meeting.
Top officials representing various departments also
briefed Dikshit about their preparations for the mega event as
well as status of their unfinished projects.
Dikshit appreciating the "substantial progress achieved in
the last 15 days despite heavy rains", asked the agencies to
put all their hard work in finishing the remaining works.
She, however, said the city is absolutely ready to host
the sporting event.
She also asked the agencies to keep a close eye on newly
developed infrastructure, greenery, street lights and
streetscaping to ensure their proper maintenance.
Dikshit further stated that even a minor deficiency after
accomplishing all the works is bound to become an eye sore.
Hence, it is extremely necessary to take care of even
minor shortcomings like removal of construction wastes, she
added.
