Ghoshal to lead Indian challenge in World Team Squash C`ship

New Delhi: National champion Saurav Ghoshal will spearhead India`s challenge in the Men`s World Team Squash Championship to be held in Odense, Denmark from September 27 to October 3.
Apart from the world number 32, the Indian contingent for the 22nd edition of the biennial event includes top players like 65th ranked Ritwik Bhattacharya, Siddharth Suchde and PSA Indian Challenger-3 winner Harinder Pal Sandhu. India is placed in group `H`, along with Scotland and Venezuela. The other country in the group is Italy, ranked eighth.India has never won the championship since its inception in 1967. Their best finish was fifth out of the six participating countries in the inaugural year only. Last year in 2007, Indian contingent performed way below the expectations, finishing eighth out of the nine countries.Egypt has been given the top seeding in the tournament and are expected to clinch the title for the first time in 10 years, given the presence of world number one Karim Darwish and Amr Shabana, ranked third. Defending champions England have been accorded the second seeding, according to the seedings announced by the World Squash Federation (WSF). Serbia will be making their debut in the championship.
