New Delhi: The international governing body for athletics, IAAF has suspended 28 athletes following retests of their samples from the 2005 and 2007 world championships.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Tuesday through a press release said that the retested samples have returned with "adverse findings".

The statement continued, "The IAAF is provisionally suspending them." However, none of the 28 can be named yet "due to the legal process".

The 2005 World Athletics Championships place in Helsinki, Finland, wile the 2007 edition was held in the Japanese city of Osaka. If doping violations are confirmed, the IAAF will correct the record books and re-allocate medals accordingly.
