India names 44 lifters for Commonwealth Championships
India on Monday named a 44-member team for the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships (senior, junior and youth) to be held at Apia, Samoa.

New Delhi: India on Monday named a 44-member team for the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships (senior, junior and youth) to be held at Apia, Samoa from June 4-9, with top lifters K Ravi Kumar and Soniya Chanu being rested in view of the upcoming Olympics.
In the absence of Ravi Kumar and Soniya, who would represent the country in the July 27-August 12 London Games, veteran Monika Devi will spearhead the Indian challenge in the senior category in the Commonwealth event.
In the last edition in Cape Town, South Africa last year, India had won a whopping 110 medals, including 53 gold.
