It was another exciting day of the inaugural Indian Badminton League where Awadhe Warriors defeated Pune Pistons 3-2. But the most exciting game in today’s tie was of promising Indian shuttler PV Sindhu and world n.o 3 German Juliane Schenk, where Sindhu got the better of Schenk by beating her in two straight sets. ==================================================================================== Match 5: Ashwini/Fishcher defeats M Kido/Pia Bernadeth 21-16, 21-14 In last and final match of the day, which was a dead rubber, mix doubles Pair of Pune Pistons Ashwini and Fishcher defeated M Kido and Pia Bernadeth. In the first set Pistons beat their opponents 21-16 and then in the next by 21-14 and won the game in two straight sets. So Awadhe Warriors won the tie against Pune Pistons 3-2. ==================================================================================== Match 4: Tien Minh Nguyen defeats Gurusai Dutt 21-12 21-18 Finally, Nguyen opened the account for Pune Pistons by winning the game against Gurusai Dutt. Nguyen got the better of Gurusai Dutt. He beat the Indian in two straight sets. In the first set Dutt only managed to gain 12 points. Though in the second he played better but it was not good enough to beat Nguyen. ==================================================================================== Match 3 M Kido/ M Boe defeats Arun Vishnu/ Sanave Thomas 21-15, 21-16 Awadhe Warriors defeat Pune Pistons in the third game as well to win the tie. In men’s doubles, pair of M Kido and M Boe thrashed the pair of Pune Pistons in back-to-back games 21-15, 21-16 to win the game and the tie. Now the next two games would be a dead rubber. ==================================================================================== Match2: PV Sindhu defeats Juliane Schenk 21-20, 21-20 Set 2: Now the pressure would be on Schenk to win this set and take the game to the third set. First Point goes to Sindhu. And after a long rally for the second point Schenk takes the point to make it 1-1. Schenk takes the lead of two points as the score line is 3-1. Wrong judgement by Schenk and next point goes to Sindhu. And Sindhu makes it 3-all by takeing the next as well. Sinhu's college professor has also in the stadium. And at the moment this set is eqally poised with 5-all. Sindhu made few unforced errors that helped Schenk to take the lead 7-5 before going for the first break. Schenk is using her rich experience and is currently leading with a huge margin 13-6. Before the second break its 14-7 in Schenk's favour. Schenk is at the driving seat at the moment. Sindhu is making a comeback by earning few points. It's 16-12 still in Schenk's favour. Sindhu is under a bit of pressure now. Sindhu is trailing 18-16. Schenk has done an unforced to make it 18-17. But with a powerful smash Schenk earned another point. It's 19-17 now in Schenk's favour. Sindhu takes the next two points to eqaul the score at 19. Sindhu takes one more to reach the game point. Schenk takes the next to make it 20-all. And with a smash Sindhu finishes the game in straight sets 21-20, 21-20. And with this win Awadhe Warriors extends it's lead 2-0. Sindhu defeats world n.o 3 Juliane Schenk in straight sets. Now that's another major achievement for this promising shuttler. Set 1: It's a tough match for Sindhu. Before going for the first break Schenk is leading 7-4. Sindhu is going for rallies. And her strategy is working as she takes the lead 9-7. Sindhu is looking composed at the moment. And Sindhu takes another point to make it 11-8 in her favour. Schenk earned few points and now it's 13-12, still in Sindhu favour. And before taking the second break Sindhu is leading 14-12. Schenk used half smash to earn a point. But Sindhu takes the next point. Schenk is changing gears now and started playing an aggressive game and its 16-16. Sindhu takes the next. And by the time both the players went for the second break the score line was 14-12. After coming from behind Srikanth flew away with the set by 21-18. He used his smashes with good effect. Now Verma would be under pressure. In the second set again Srikanth outsmart his opponent to win the game 21-16.
