Indian cueists good run continue at IBSF World Snooker

Manan Chandra led the way with a convincing win as Indian cueists capped off a good day in the IBSF World Snooker Championship, on Monday.

Daugavpils (Latvia): Manan Chandra led the way with a convincing win as Indian cueists capped off a good day in the IBSF World Snooker Championship, here on Monday.
Chandra continued his dominance in the 15-Red format as he defeated Egypt`s Karim Elabd 4-1. Brijesh Damani and Shahbaaz Adil Khan also emerged triumphant, winning their respective group league matches without much hassle.
While Damani made a clean sweep with a 4-0 win over local challenger Maris Volajs, Khan also gave ample proof of his talent as he thumped Malta`s Mario Brincat 4-1 in a one-sided contest. In the women`s section, Mumbai`s Arantax Sanchis registered her fourth successive win in the tournament when she beat Poland`s Dalia Alska in straight frames. Sanchis reigned supreme on the green baize as she did not allow her opponent to take advantage. Sanchis has, so far, lost only two frames in the tournament and is well on her course to top the group. Chitra M eked out her first win in the tournament when she defeated Nastya Toumilovitch of Belarus in straight frames to finally shrug off her losing streak. However, there was disappointment in store for Varsha Sanjeev and Neena Praveen, both of whom lost their respective matches to Ng On Yee and Amornrat Uamduang. Varsha lost to world champion Yee 1-3, while Praveen was overwhelmed by Uamduang 0-3. Uamduang produced two breaks of 56 and 59 points in first two frames to knock the daylight out of Praveen. In the Masters section (above 40), Nigel Lazar scored an emphatic 4-0 win over The Netherlands` Peter Bertens. S A Saleem once again failed to win the decider frame and lost to France`s Bernard Ballestra 2-3 in a keenly-contested match.
