Indian cueists impress in snooker event

In another successful day for Indian cueists, Sourav Kothari, Varun Madan and Faisal Khan almost assured their berth in the knockout stage of the 6-Red Snooker and World Team 15-Red Snooker Championship here today.

In the womens singles, Arantxa Sanchis also entered the knockout stage after ending second in her group while Rafath Habib and Nadeem Azeez also advanced to the next round in the Masters Team event. Meanwhile in a record-setting day, Hossen Vaferi Ayori of Iran against Larinov Roman of Russia scored the first break of 75 of the championship and won the game 4-0 to top his group. Lee Chun Wai though was not so lucky against Krzystof Wrobel of Egypt in spite of his break of 75 in the fourth frame as he went down 4-3. Darren Morgan, who has had a good run in the championship so far, was stunned by Ahmed Zali 3-4.
