Indian lifters continue to shine, win seven more medals

Indian lifters continued their impressive show at the Commonwealth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships winning seven more medals, including three gold, on the second day of the competition at Penang, Malaysia today.

Yukar Sibi and Papul Changmai won the gold in junior men`s 62kg and 69kg categories, respectively, while Reena bagged the yellow metal in junior women`s 63kg. Yukar lifted 259kg (109+150) while Papul had an effort of 252kg (113+139). Reena had a total lift of 191kg (86+105). Rama Krishna won a silver in junior men`s 69kg with a total lift of 251kg (110+141). G Aruna Rani bagged a silver in junior women`s 63kg category with a total lift of 177kg (80+97) while G Lakshmi won a bronze in junior women`s 58kg with an effort of 150kg (68+82). In the Youth Championships held simultaneously, Th Tragu won a bronze in boy`s 62kg with a total lift of 211kg (87+124). On the first day of the competition yesterday, Indian lifters had bagged seven medals, including three gold. PTI
