New Delhi: Ace Indian boxer MC Mary Kom is still hopeful to participate in the upcoming Rio Olympics via wildcard entry.

Star Indian pugilist on Tuesday said that she was keeping her fingers crossed to make a cut for Rio.

Record, five-time world champion stated, "I am having my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. It will be known by this month end.”

The London Olympics bronze medallist Mary Kom failed to qualifying for the Rio Games in the 51 kg weight category, after losing her second round bout of last month's World Championships, which was the last qualifying event for women boxers.

"The Indian Olympic Association and ad-hoc committee (of boxing) are trying their best to get me a wild card. If I get it, I will be very happy. It is not in my hands. It is a fifty-fifty chance," the 33-year-old boxer was quoted as saying by PTI.
