MP and Shahabad Academy clash in All-India Women Hockey finals

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy will take on Shahabad Academy in the final of All-India Women`s Hockey Tournament to be played at the Aishbagh Stadium here tonight.

In the second semi-final, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated star-studded Haryana XI by 2-1 in a thrilling match last night to set up the final clash. Despite several efforts to net the ball from players of both sides, no team was able to open its account till the breather. In the second-half, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy played an attacking game and scored the first goal through Reena Kakariya from a penalty corner in the 50th minute and took a 1-0 lead. Later, Lalremruati raised the lead to 2-0 with a brilliant field goal for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in the 60th minute. The only goal for Haryana XI was scored by Monika Dahiya in the 69th minute reducing the margin 2-1. On Wednesday, Shahbad Academy made its way to the final of the tournament by registering a facile 4-1 victory over Chandigarh Academy in the first semi-final. PTI
