Nets` Williams to have surgery on both ankles

Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams is scheduled to have surgery on both of his troublesome ankles, the NBA team said in a statement on Thursday.

Williams will have the procedures performed on Tuesday and is expected to be fully recovered in time for next season`s training camp. Williams, a three-time All-Star was plagued by trouble with both ankles throughout the 2013-14 season. He was limited to 64 regular-season games and his averages of 14.3 points and 6.1 assists per game were his lowest since his rookie campaign of 2005-06. Williams will have a bone chip taken out of his right ankle, and will have bone spurs removed from his left. The 29-year-old just completed the second season of a five-year, $98 million contract he signed with the Nets in July of 2012.
