Olympic road race to start, finish on Copacabana

The Olympic cycling road races in Brazil next year will start and end in front of the fort on Rio de Janeiro`s world-famous Copacabana beach, the International Cycling Union (UCI) said Friday.

Paris: The Olympic cycling road races in Brazil next year will start and end in front of the fort on Rio de Janeiro`s world-famous Copacabana beach, the International Cycling Union (UCI) said Friday.

The men`s 256.4km course will take place on August 6, 2016 with the women`s event over 130.3km a day later.

The course will also pass other Rio landmarks such as Ipanema beach and Barra da Tijuca, while there will be a 2km cobbled section and a brutal short climb, added the UCI.
