Saina crashes out of Malaysian Super Series

Saina Nehwal`s challenge at the Malaysian Super Series was cut short in the quarterfinal stage as the Indian squandered a one-game lead to crash out of the badminton tournament in Kuala Lumpur today.

Saina was going great guns after grabbing the lead but unseeded Xin Wang of China refused to throw in the towel and upset the seventh seed Indian 21-14 8-21 11-21 after a 39- minutes intense battle. World number seven Saina struggled at the net as she could bag only eight points compared to Wang`s 15 points. The Chinese also pocketed 37 clear winners as against Sainas` 28. The Hyderabadi was in her elements in the first game and from 4-all, Saina created a 7-4 cusion and kept the lead to pocket the first game. However, in the second game, the Chinese bounced back and cruised to 7-1 lead and then surged ahead with giant strides and sealed the game. Charged up after levelling the score, Wang again opened up huge six point lead at 7-1 and did not give any chance to Sania to make a comeback. PTI
