Bangalore: Rising Indian shuttler Sourabh Varma notched up a straight-game victory over B Sai Praneeth in the final to clinch the Senior National Badminton Championship title on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, who reached the finals of the Syed Modi Memorial India Open Grand Prix last month, defeated second seed Praneeth 21-19 21-19 in the men`s singles here.
The ninth seeded P V Sindhu caused a major upset as she beat second seed Neha Pandit 21-9 21-14 in the women`s singles final to lift the title.
It took Sindhu just 29 minutes to outplay her opponent.
In the mixed doubles category, top seeds Arun Vishnu and Balan Aparna beat second seeded Pranav Chopra and Prajakta Sawant 21-16 17-21 21-19 in a 58-minute hard fought battle to emerge as champions.
In the women`s doubles, second seeds Pradnya Gadre and Prajakta Sawant stunned top seeded pair of Balan Aparna and N Sikki Reddy 21-19 22-20 in just 35 minutes.
