New Delhi: Women boxing's trendsetters MC Mary Kom and Sarita Laishram on Friday booked their respective places in the upcoming 12th South Asian Games 2016 to be held in Guwahati and Shillong.

The Manipuri duo won their final round bouts of their respective weight categories during the SAF Test event and Elite Women's National Boxing Selection trial held at the NEHU, SAI Special Area Games in Shillong.

While Olympics medallist Mary Kom beat her state-mate Samjetsabam Sarjubala in the fly weight category, Sarita got the better of RSPB's Soniya to seal the SAG spot in the light weight category.

Besides, promising pugilist Pooja Rani subdued experienced Aruna Mishra to earn to right represent India in the middle weight category.

The South Asia's biennial multi-sport event will be held from February 5 to 16.
